GHSP, jointly launched by Chinese government and United Kingdom government, is a China-UK partnership contributing to improve global health policy and outcomes. The programme will help China improve its contribution to global health and achieve the potential of its collaboration. GHSP is scheduled to be implemented from 2012 to 2018 with a total budget of £12 million.

NIPD successfully completed the external assessment work for its project Centre of Excellence in Health Development Aid in China: Capacity Building and Information Dissemination”


An External Assessment Meeting was held by NIPD in Shanghai during 18-19 December 2016. The external assessment team believed that, NIPD has accomplished all desired work according to the project design, achieved overall project objective, cultivated and trained a group of professionals in global health together with knowledge on tropical diseases prevention and control, summed up and distilled significant experiences and lessons learned from project implementation, which laid a solid foundation to form one of the Centres of Excellence in Health Development Aid in China.  [OP202]

Introducing Excellent Courses to Cultivate Elite Talents Consultant Training on Development Assistance for Health

In order to foster a team of consultants in the field of health development assistance for the future, China National Health Development Research Center (CNHDRC), National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) successfully organized the Consultant Training on Development Assistance for Health in Beijing from 5th to 9th Dec. 2016.

The training course focused on the theme of "Global Health Diplomacy, International Health Development Assistance Theory and Practice, Consultant Expert Capacity Building". The training materials covered the international health development assistance theory system, major actors, development trends and management evaluation system. It also included the strategy, status, role and future outlook of providing foreign health assistance, the core skills of consulting work, the management processes as well as monitoring and evaluation methods of major international bilateral and multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, OECD and UK International Development Agency.  [OP203]

Training Course on Global Health International Consulting Service Capacity successfully accomplished in Wuhan

On 7 December 2016, a training course on Global Health International Consulting Service Capacity supported by the China-UK Global Health Support Programme (GHSP) (under contract No.: GHSP-CS-OP3-V04) was successfully accomplished in Wuhan. As a part of the technical activities of the Global Health Network in China, the 3-day training course was organized by Global Health Institute, Wuhan University (WHU-GHI) after successful bidding. It attracted more than 40 trainees from member organizations of the China Global Health Network (CGHN) and the lecturers were experts, scholars and government officials from the World Health Organization (WHO), National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), Peking University, and so on.  [OP3V04]

MCH Pilot Project in Action: Promoting Health Education to Pregnant Women in Ethiopia

As a sub-project under the China-UK Global Health Support Programme (GHSP), an overseas pilot project on maternal and child health (MCH) was launched in Ethiopia. Under the project, a series of meetings were organized for pregnant women at township level from 21 March to 28 March 2017. Those meetings covered all six towns in the pilot site- Gonji Kolela. The meeting aimed at disseminating benefits of antenatal health care and institutional childbirth to pregnant women and their family, advocating free referral and treatment for high-risk pregnancies, and providing education on breastfeeding and how to identify danger signs for newborns, in order to enhance the local residents’ awareness on utilizing reproductive, maternal and newborn health care services.  [OP401]

Foreign-aid Talents were Nurtured under the China-UK-Tanzania Pilot Project on Malaria Control


The China-UK-Tanzania Pilot Project on Malaria Control was launched in April 2015. In the last two years, four batches of field workers were selected and deployed to the pilot site. The technical experts were specialized in malaria epidemiology, vector biology, health education, parasite diagnostic, information technology, geographic information science, global health and other fields. The combination of multi-disciplinary technical experts constitutes a good basis for sharing and disseminating Chinese experience and technique.  [OP402]

PMO Held a Meeting to Learn and Discuss Counter Fraud Policy

In the afternoon of 27 December 2016, a meeting on counter fraud was held in the Programme Management Office (PMO) in Beijing. Mr. Liu Fang, PMO Deputy Director, led the team and went through the counter fraud policy document of the Department for International Development (DFID) entitled Counter Fraud Policy: A Zero Tolerance Approach. The DFID policy document specified the definition of fraud and zero tolerance approach, roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, procedures of fraud case reporting, investigation, sanctions, media response, typical fraud cases, and relevant regulations on fraud in DFID, which shall be complied with by all DFID staff, its collaborating institutions, and persons involved in DFID fund.  [PMO]

The 4th China-UK Global Health Dialogue Successfully Held in Beijing

The 4th China-UK Global Health Dialogue was held in Beijing on 12th July, 2017. Altogether nearly 40 representatives attended the meeting, including those from the Department of International Cooperation of National Health and Family Planning Commission(NHFPC), Department of Planning and Information of NHFPC, Bureau of Medical Administration of NHFPC, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), Programme Management Office of GHSP (Center for Project Supervision and Management of NHFPC), and Department for International Development (DFID), UK Department of Health, Public Health England and the British Embassy in Beijing. During the Dialogue, both Chinese and British sides reviewed their working progress since the latest dialogue and discussed in depth the global health issues such as global health governance, health policy, working together on health in Africa, infectious disease prevention and antibiotic resistance.  [PMO]
